(LING 350) Introduction to the fundamental concepts, philosophy, and research methods of the study of language in its social contexts. Special attention to language spread, and language variation; language attitudes; language diversity; code-switching; language standardization; and language identity and loyalty.

Same as EIL 450. 3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: LING 405 or equivalent.
