(FR 317) Introduction to the historical development of the French language, from its Latin origins to the present. Analysis of texts from a variety of genres across the written history of the language, and an examination of the social role of the language in the definition of France.
Same as MDVL 417. 3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: FR 414.
