(ECE 397) Studies processes involving quantum mechanical energy transfers in energized media leading to various lasering devices and their applications. A series of lectures, supplementing the special projects, offers background information on spectroscopy, collisional energy transfer, laser pumping schemes, modulation at optical frequencies, holography, and other related topics.

Prerequisite: Senior standing; consent of instructor; ECE 487 recommended.
