(HIST 386) Complete survey of the history of the Horn, from the origins of agriculture and pastoralism to the late twentieth century. Covers classical Aksum, medieval Ethiopia, and the coastal Islamic city states; concentrates on the twentieth century and the rise of conflicting nationalisms, the outbreak of revolution, and famine.

3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: HIST 211 or AFST 222 or junior standing.
