PhysicsPHYCS 386. Atomic Physics and Quantum Mechanics, IStudies atomic phenomena integrated with an introduction to quantum theory; discussion of topics includes evidence for the atomic nature of matter and the properties of the Schrodinger equation, single particle solutions in one dimension, the hydrogen atom, perturbation theory, external fields, and atomic spectroscopy of outer electrons.Prerequisite: General physics; MATH 285, credit or concurrent registration in MATH 315, or consent of instructor.
