PHYCS 225. Intermediate Mechanics and Relativity, I

Examines kinematics and dynamics. Vector analysis will be developed as needed. Topics include special relativity, Newtonian kinematics and dynamics in three dimensions, behavior of systems of particles, oscillations, transient response of oscillators, nonlinear oscillators, motion in rotating frames of reference, and rigid body dynamics.

Prerequisite: Credit or concurrent registration in PHYCS 112 and in MATH 285; or consent of instructor.
3 hours. Credit not given for both PHYCS 225 and PHYCS 210.
