Mathematical Physics II
Credit: 4 hours.
Continuation of PHYS 508. Further core techniques of mathematical physics widely used in the physical sciences. Complex variables; group theory in classical and quantum systems; tensors in physics; differential forms and their applications in mechanics; electromagnetism. Topics are illustrated with realistic physics problems; a broad range of illustrative examples are explored; applications are emphasized. Prerequisite: PHYS 508.
