HIST 437
Middle East in 20th Century

Credit: 2 to 4 hours.
Political and ideological developments in Egypt, Arabia, the Fertile Crescent (including Israel), Iran, and Turkey from World War I to the present, with emphasis on the period to the 1960s; economic, social, and cultural trends in the region also addressed. 3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: One year of college history or political science, or consent of instructor. HIST 135 is recommended.
